Boston College has suspended a women's soccer player from?Friday's NCAA tournament game against Penn State for referencing Jerry Sandusky on her Twitter account.
Stephanie McCaffrey, the team's second-leading scorer,?"exhibited insensitivity"?by mentioning Sandusky and showers?in a series of tweets Thursday from Penn State's campus, Boston College athletic director Brad Bates said in a statement.
McCaffrey's Twitter account was deleted, but the Penn State?site www.onwardstate.com?captured a few (read them here).
"The student-athlete used very poor judgment and exhibited insensitivity towards Penn State and the abuse victims, for which she apologizes," Bates said in a statement. "This type of behavior is not tolerated among our student-athletes."
McCaffrey is Boston College's second-leading scorer, with nine goals and six assists.
Penn State, the Big Ten champ, hosts Boston College at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Jeffrey?Field.

Miss McCaffrey has been suspended from the team and will not participate in Friday's game.
