Google's augmented-reality glasses won't quite live up to the teaser video released last month, according to a CNET report.
While Google+ chief Vic Gundotra didn't say much about the Glasses during an interview this morning, a later discussion with another spokesperson confirmed that the popular prototype model...shows information above the wearer's usual line of sight, "about where the edge of an umbrella might be."It sounds as if the glasses will be more like a notification bar than a full Terminator-style heads-up display, but that is perhaps to be expected given that the prototype's display seems to sit in a small band above one eye.
Even if Google's glasses end up only displaying a few small icons in your peripheral vision, they still have potential as a unique, always-on camera. Google X Lab founder Sebastian Thrun recently posted a picture captured with the glasses on Google+, showing a first-person view of him spinning his son in the air.
